The Freudenau Lock is a key facility on the Danube, regulating shipping traffic at the Freudenau Danube Power Plant and overcoming a height difference of approximately 8.6 meters. The lock consists of two chambers and is operated 24/7 by viadonau. For cyclists on the Danube Canal or Danube Cycle Path, the lock offers an interesting vantage point: From here, the locking process can be observed, and its location on the right bank of the Danube in the 2nd district makes it an easily accessible stopover on a bike tour along the Danube.
