The weather shelter, which was faithfully renovated in 2018 (although without the former bell tower), is located at an altitude of 530 meters and is believed to have been built as early as 1866. Bad Elster's garden inspector Paul Schindel had it rebuilt several times during the design of his North Park (now the Forest Park) at the beginning of the 20th century.

All nice gravel paths. So normal hiking clothes and shoes are recommended.

The Hermitage is a pretty log cabin (today without the former turret), stands at 530 m above the Baltic Sea level, as a sign still says today. Unfortunately, the date of its construction and the names of the builders can no longer be determined. The “Hermitage Hermitage” is already marked on a site plan from 1884. This weather shelter was rebuilt several times based on ideas from Paul Schindel. Its name suggests a hermit's hermitage. But there are no traditions about this. In 2018 it was renovated down to the last detail.
