Visit Döttesfeld

A very attractive route.

Not only the Wiedtal itself is worth a tour. From there you can turn off at several points up to the Westerwaldhöhen and from there you can ski down charming routes with a great view back into the Wiedtal. It's a bit more strenuous, but it's easy to do, especially for e-bikers, and it's almost a must.

The Catherine Tower from the 13th/14th century formed (together with the moat tower) one of the two imposing entrance gates to the town centre. In the Katharinenturm (also Porzerturm) is the tower museum. On certain dates, old crafts such as Spinning/weaving presented. Tower Museum Opening times: Sundays 2-5 p.m Admission €2.

The Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Stadt Blankenberg e.V. maintains two museums, the Tower Museum in the Katharinentor and the Wine Museum in the Runenhaus. With these facilities, an attempt is made to demonstrate and illustrate life in the past in the city of Blankenberge. This offer was accepted by numerous visitors and received praise. Many guests have already climbed the tower, entered the former wine cellar and enjoyed the wonderful panoramic view and the objects on display and the explanations. The museums are open on Sundays from April to the end of October from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Weather-related opening times apply from October to March. Historical tours through the museums and through the castle, town and church are offered as required. For example, the historical association for the Lower Rhine and the old archdiocese of Cologne, the oldest large historical association in the Rhineland, were introduced to the history of the city of Blankenberg. The Wiedradweg is really beautiful! Not boring, but partly on forest paths, gravel paths, unfortunately also longer road sections on quiet country roads. The Wied always more or less in view, bridges, tunnels, recommended!
