This striking half-timbered house in Bönnigheim is the "Ratsstüble" (Rat's Inn) on the market square. It was built on the cellar vault of a previous building, dating back to at least 1458. It has a relatively small footprint and a height of 17 meters. The building has likely housed a restaurant since its construction. It is documented that it was owned by a master baker in 1685 and a master butcher in 1839. During the First World War, bakeries, butchers, and confectioneries were located here. Since 1945, it has been called the "Ratsstüble" – probably due to its proximity to the former town hall (which burned down in 1945). This is where the council members of the time met. In the 1970s, the inn was considered a trendy pub thanks to the students of the Hohenstein Institute and Schiller College. Today, you will find an inn here serving traditional Swabian cuisine.

A particularly dramatic episode occurred in 1525 during the German Peasants' War. The peasants, rebelling against the oppression and high taxes of the nobles, laid siege to Neipperg Castle. The siege was fierce and the castle's defenders had to stand up bravely against the attackers. Eventually the Lords of Neipperg managed to repel the siege, but the damage to the castle was considerable. After the war, the castle was rebuilt and reinforced to better withstand future attacks. These events shaped the history of the castle and made it a symbol of the resistance and steadfastness of the Lords of Neipperg.

In the heart of Gemmingen, between the castle courtyard and Wiesenstrasse, is the old stately castle park, which was acquired and renovated by the municipality of Gemmingen in the 1980s. The idea behind it was English gardening. The center of the site today is the castle park pond, which is fed by its own spring, the Murrbach, and mainly by an old pipe from the Losterbach spring. Adjacent to the northern bank is an octagonal wooden pavilion. There are various events, concerts, children's performances and also an open-air cinema. Every two years, the park festival takes place across the entire area, organized by Gemmingen and Stebbach clubs. Not far from the pavilion, on the edge of the path, you will come across a bronze group, the Gänseliesel. It was donated by a Gemmingen citizen. There is also an old war memorial in a clearing in the trees. The castle park is now the green heart of the municipality and is an integral part of community life. (Source: Heilbronnerland.de)

Ancestral castle of the Lords and Counts of Neipperg The Hohenstaufen castle complex has been owned by the Neipperg family since its beginnings. With its two mighty towers, the hilltop castle watches over the town of the same name, Neipperg, and shapes the image of the small wine village. First mentioned in 1212, Neipperg Castle consists of two castles that are located right next to each other (and also belong together), but are structurally completely separate: the lower and the upper castle. Only the impressive keep remains of the lower castle. Around 1500, the upper castle complex was converted into a fortified palace. The last major structural changes were made by Count Alfred von Neipperg, who from 1850 onwards concentrated on the agricultural use of the castle complex. The view from Neipperg Castle stretches far over the wine landscape of the Zabergäu. Many hiking and cycling trails lead past the imposing castle and connect the popular viewing areas of Zweifelberg and Hörnle. If you explore the Heuchelberg, you shouldn't miss Neipperg Castle. https://www.neckar-zaber-tourismus.de/poi/burg-neipperg
