In 1539 there was a farm as an individual estate in Gersdorf, which belonged to the Altzella monastery as a farm. From 1925 the Gersdorf manor was owned by the zur Lippe family and was leased to Daniel von Hoenning O'Carroll in 1937. These plans failed. A shared apartment has moved into the castle on a leasehold basis, the aim of which is to gradually renovate the castle.
