Hadamar Castle was initially Eberbach Monastery. In 1320 the monastery became the property of Count Emich of Nassau. The count turned the monastery into a moated castle with a farm, tithe barn and city wall.

In the recent past, a hotel was to be made out of the castle, which has been waiting for years. Aside from the fact that it's slowly but surely falling into disrepair, unfortunately nothing is happening.

The castle is being renovated. It is a nice short climb to the castle, but above the castle is not very impressive.
