Amoreiras‑Gare originated around the historic 1888 railway station, later becoming a small industrial and commercial hub in the 20th century. Today, it hosts local events like the traditional “Festas de Maio” and offers nature trails for hikers.

The walk across the bridge over the Mira River is definitely worth recommending! The view of the wide river is absolutely wonderful. There's a designated pedestrian area so you can walk across in a relaxed manner. When I was there on Tuesday morning, there was virtually no traffic on the bridge.

This bridge near Vila Nova De Milfontes is the last opportunity to cross the Mira before the river flows into the Atlantic Ocean, about two kilometers from here. It began its river life in the Serra do Caldeirã, and the distance from source to mouth is 145 kilometers.
