I was there about three weeks ago, it has a magic all of its own! The hike is worth it - I made a little film about it for anyone who is interested - with a bit of history;) When I was there, water was running down in the cellar... afterwards I was in an air raid shelter nearby. A beautifully maintained complex: the castle, the rose garden and a steep but beautiful climb from the city center to the very well-preserved castle. There is also a wonderful view of Spangenberg.

The castle was probably built around the middle of the 13th century by Albert I of Count von Wallenstein (formerly Count vonSchauburg), who had resided at Wallenstein Castle ("Waldinsteyn") six kilometers to the northwest since the beginning of the century, according to which he also called himself since 1233. Campsite & natural pool Burg Wallenstein. Bombs of space and a great natural swimming pool. A bathing beach to linger. Lovely here.

The almost square inner castle is surrounded by a strong shield wall, large parts of which are still preserved. Many other buildings were demolished to obtain materials. A round stair tower that remained was recently converted into a lookout tower by installing a spiral staircase. Only a few remains of the walls of the spacious outer castle have survived. A beautiful spot in the middle of Germany. I also found the gastronomy below the castle to be very good.
