The short detour up from the Schauerwaldstraße is truly worth it. From the vast clearing of the Hochalm, the view opens up over the valley surrounding Oberwang and the hills toward Attersee and the Höllengebirge mountains. Opposite, to the southeast, the Schafberg mountain overlooks the forested mountains between Mondsee and Attersee. On the Kulmspitze, to the left of the Schafberg, is the magnificent observation tower.

Here you can choose between taking the steep climb directly up to the clearing with the Danter Inn below Lichtenberg, or continuing along the good forest road over to the paved road to the observation tower. The hiking trail down to Klausbach is only for the very brave/wild downhillers (there are also prohibition signs along the forest road below).
