Beautifully renovated building, but unfortunately no access, not even to the outside area.

A truly worthwhile gem. Open Monday to Friday, morning until afternoon. Tower tours cost €3 per person. Weddings are also permitted here.

The castle belonged, among others, to the parents of the later tsarina, Catherine the Great. The castle grounds themselves are not accessible. However, the area in front of them also offers rest areas. On Open Monument Day (every second Sunday in September), individual rooms of the castle can be visited from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Barby Castle is a baroque palace complex in Barby, a town in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt, whose origins go back to a border castle from the 10th century and which has served as a residence since the 17th century. From the 18th to the 20th century it was used as an educational institution and has housed the land register archive of Saxony-Anhalt since 1979.
