Along the cycle path, between Viseu and Tondela, you will find three catering establishments. Between Tondela and Santa Comba Dão there are none.

I also highly recommend this bike path, a real interstate for cyclists, with asphalt all the way and beautiful surroundings!

The Aguieira Dam, also known as the Foz do Dão Dam, located on the Mondego River between Penacova and Mortágua, was started in 1973 and inaugurated in 1981. At 89 meters high, it is a multiple arch dam used for hydroelectric production, irrigation , flood control and recreation. Its reservoir has submerged local villages and supplies water to Coimbra and neighboring municipalities.

Beautiful cycle path over old railway line. Not many terraces or other catering establishments along the way. And such a cycle path is fun, but you cycle back the same way.

Very nice small river beach (unofficial). Access is via a dirt road (+- 100m) that leads directly to the Dão ecopista.

Old railway bridge, fully restored and now integrated into Ecopista do Dão. It is almost impossible not to stop there to enjoy the excellent view over the Dão River. Note: Some time ago, in an unspeakable act of vandalism that could have put lives at risk, some of the metal plates (5) that form the floor were stolen. If you cross the bridge at night or in poor visibility conditions, extreme caution is recommended.

Along its almost 50 km, the Ecopista do Dão crosses three municipalities. The color of the floor changes depending on the municipality we are in, being red in Viseu, green in Tondela and blue in Santa Comba Dão.

The people at Quinta da Abelenda are friendly and responsive. The bicycle rental business seems to be more geared towards groups of foreign tourists, who occasionally want to take a bicycle ride along the Ecopista do Dão. If you go alone, the transfer service may not be available or you may not be able to book if there is not a minimum number of participants.
