A path, which is partly heavily blocked and surrounded by thousands of dead trees, leads from the Dreisessel to the border triangle. The Hochkammweg is a really beautiful hiking trail. There are also wonderful views of the Bohemian Forest.

Not a pretty sight for many, but that's the nature park concept. The dead and uprooted trees are the breeding ground for the new young forest, nature regenerates itself.

Skiing on the Hochficht is always nice. Slopes are well prepared and the "survive's hut" has a treat for everyone ⛷️🍰🍗🇦🇹

The Hochficht is a winter sports area, which opens up over the three adjacent mountains Zwieselberg (1163 m above sea level), Reischlberg (1281 m above sea level) and Hochficht.

For me, the summit wasn't really worthwhile, but the further way was all the more so

An impenetrable jungle prevailed until the 19th century. Animals such as brown bears and wolves were native here. Wood was the most important building, fuel and material for the inhabitants of the forest mountains. Working in the forest was part of everyday life. Since the nutrient-poor soils and the harsh climate made field cultivation not very profitable, small farmers had to rely on secondary income.

The dead trees look terrible and at the same time breathtaking. But it is also nice to see that nature is able to recover and that young trees are growing again!
