They certainly didn't do the environment any favors with the lift system. And I don't think it adds any value either. Two black slopes, often only one of which is accessible. I've known the Leppleskoflel for decades. No, the climb isn't scenic anymore. But at the top, you're rewarded with a view that's second to none. And mountain bikers shouldn't even attempt it; the terrain isn't exactly fun.

Because of the unsightly access path, I first took the beautiful trail toward Ochsenlenke and then from there up over grass and scree directly to the start of the summit trail. Although very strenuous, it saves you the wide path. Perhaps creating a trail as a branch off the Ochsenlenke trail would enhance the value of this worthwhile summit!

The Grosser Leppleskofel is advertised as easy to climb, but it's actually a moderately difficult climb! The final 200 meters to the summit are particularly challenging. Surefootedness, a head for heights, and the appropriate equipment are essential! Don't forget, we're in alpine terrain.

Absolutely worthwhile, sure-footedness and a head for heights are an advantage

It used to be a great tour with a beautiful, only short sections steep climb towards the end as an access route. They stayed, the other beautiful ascent by path unfortunately fell victim to the slope expansion. The new path is therefore up to the last stretch on a steep, very monotonous rough gravel road, which heats up miserably when the weather is nice. Honestly no fun. Anyone who now thinks they ride their bikes better: Yes, it is possible, but you should be able to. The road is very steep and gravel/slippery. We saw several people with rental e-mountain bikes from the village, who desperately pushed them down the path or could no longer start up the steep path. Therefore probably something for more experienced mountain bikers. The view at the top of the summit is beautiful as always... everyone has to decide for themselves whether the way there is still worthwhile.

This demanding panoramic summit is absolutely NOT a hike but a mountain tour! Until a year ago, it was also a worthwhile tour starting at the Brunnalm middle station. Unfortunately, there is now a road to the mountain station of the new chairlift (2022). And only the last piece to the summit is a narrow, steep, exposed and muddy path. The two types of path do not go together and can easily tempt you to go too far if you are not in good physical condition and have insufficient experience. We will gladly climb other mountains, not this one!

Climbed from Neue Prager Hütte to the summit, the storm made our ascent quite difficult. We surpassed the summit and descended over the glacier to the Kursinger Hütte. So it was a medium-difficult high-altitude tour. The tour can be done without a mountain guide if the participants have a certain level of mountaineering experience.
