The origins of Scharfeneck Castle probably date back to the 11th century, but are not documented. Its name goes back to the Hungarian royal family of Scharfeneck, who were at the height of their power around 1400 and were highly respected by the Hungarian kings. Orth Castle is one of the oldest surviving castles in the region and has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages.
