Hange Manor was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Hange, who first appear in documents in 1304. The castle played a role in the conflicts between the Bishopric of Osnabrück and the County of Tecklenburg when, in 1336, Count Nicholas II of Tecklenburg fortified Hange Manor in response to the construction of Bleiburg Castle near Fürstenau. However, on March 11, 1336, the warring parties decided that Bleiburg Castle should be demolished and everything defensible at Hange Manor, such as the keep, ramparts, and barbican, should be dismantled, and the moats filled in. Afterward, Hange Manor apparently continued to exist only as an unfortified estate. Later owners included the von Budde family after 1409, the von Schade zu Ihorst family in 1587, and the von Ascheberg zu Venne family after 1635. In 1872, the heavily indebted estate was sold into private hands. In the last quarter of the 19th century, the previously single-story manor house was enlarged by adding a second story. In 1910, it was acquired by the Franciscan nuns of Thuine, who incorporated the manor house into a new building. Today, the estate is used as a drug rehabilitation center by Fazenda da Esperança.

The local history museum impresses with its beautiful clinker brick facade, and inside you can admire the original furnishings. The district judge once lived here.
