A wonderful, idyllic starting point for the entrance to the Stillensteinklamm under the impressive 100-year-old railway viaduct. Was lucky enough to be able to enjoy the freshly smoked salmon trout on Sunday (one is enough for two people!)😍👌🏼 Definitely worth a visit. Free parking is also available.

Grein is an Upper Austrian town in the Lower Mühlviertel in the district of Perg. With an area of 18.42 square kilometers and 2,934 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2023), Grein is the fifteenth largest municipality in terms of area and the seventh largest municipality in terms of population in the district. Grein has been the third oldest town in the Mühlviertel and the capital of the Strudengau since 1491.

Beautiful section of the route with highlights worth seeing, on a great route from Melk to Grein. We have now driven this section several times and it is and remains a great experience. Relaxed tour on cycle paths that are easy to navigate.

From the Danube Cycle Path near Krummnussbaum, cyclists are treated to a particularly beautiful view of Maria Taferl, which sits picturesquely perched above the Danube. The pilgrimage church, with its distinctive dome, rises impressively above the river and is a defining feature of the Wachau landscape. The cycle path is very well maintained, paved, and easy to ride. The combination of stunning views and a comfortable route makes the tour especially relaxing. I've cycled this route several times now – and each time it's a delightful experience.

This particularly idyllic section stretches along the Danube River 💦, where the cycle path runs directly along the banks and offers magnificent views of the river and the surrounding countryside. In the distance, the town of Grein with its historic center can be seen, nestled between the rolling hills and wooded slopes of the Danube Valley. The tranquil atmosphere, the interplay of water and nature, and the expansive views make this section a highlight for cyclists. A truly impressive tour, one of the most beautiful sections of the route, with magnificent views of the Danube, picturesque scenery, and the charming town of Grein in the distance.

Nice tranquil place at the beginning of the tour through the gorge. You can really strengthen yourself before the ascent.
