"In the middle of the cemetery on the banks of the Strogen River rise the tower and chancel of the former parish church. It was built around 1500 (building inscription 1516) as a late Gothic brick building with a high gabled tower, in the architectural style common in the Landshut area. In 1619, the interior was remodeled and painted in the Baroque style, and the nave was demolished in 1719. In 1864, the high altar was transferred here from the then-demolished Gothic Church of the Holy Spirit in Appolting. Bishop Ulrich of Augsburg (923-973) is one of the most important folk saints. St. Ulrich is depicted in bishop's robes, sometimes on horseback in battle, usually with his personal attribute, a fish, or with a book. He is the patron saint of the city and diocese of Augsburg, as well as co-patron saint of the diocese of Paderborn, of weavers, the dying, winegrowers, fishermen, and wanderers; he is also invoked in times of water hazards and floods. The chapel contains two late Gothic figures of the saint: a standing St. Ulrich at the altar, circa 1500, and a seated St. Ulrich on the walls, circa 1520.
