International artists have created impressive sculptures along a cross-border Austro-Hungarian path that symbolically connect the past and the future. The art trail leads visitors through a landscape once divided by political borders. The artworks creatively explore the transformation of Europe and bring this historical upheaval to life. This unique open-air museum invites visitors to reflect on freedom, unity, and the overcoming of borders.

The Three Countries Sculpture Park marks the easternmost point of Austria on the border with Hungary and Slovakia

Since 2004, the monument has been a reminder of the media-wide opening of the Iron Curtain by the two foreign ministers Alois Mock and Guyla Horn on June 27, 1989. Unfortunately, there is no sign indicating the official start of the opening of the border between Nickelsdorf and Hegyeshalom on May 2, 1989.

Memorial stone 'Fall of the Iron Curtain' The memorial is located southeast of Nickelsdorf, on the Nickelsdorf - Kleylehof freight route. The artist Franz Gyolcs created an impressive, yet reduced sandstone monument, which is surrounded by four benches (also made of sandstone). On these benches there is a commemorative inscription written by Mag. Peter Limbeck. As a cross-border sign, the explanation "FLUCHT & HELP 1989" can be read in German as well as in English, Hungarian, Slovakian and French. A place that invites everyone from Nickelsdorf and those passing by to linger, rest and think.

The border triangle of Austria, Slovakia and Hungary is near Deutsch Jahrndorf. It is the easternmost point of Austria. The neighboring municipalities are Deutsch Jahrndorf (A), Čunovo (SK) and Rajka (H).
