The town hall was built in 1928 and features a 40-meter-high clock tower. It is the seat of the city administration.

The upper castle was built around 1300. Like the moated castle, it was owned by the von Schaumburg family until 1425 and by the von Rosenau family until 1575.

Both the main road and the cycle path along the old railway line offer beautiful views of the castle and church. Road cyclists usually use the road when traffic is light and the traffic lights are off, as it's faster and shorter. The railway cycle path is a bit longer and more winding, but more interesting, safer, and offers better views. If traffic is heavy, choose the latter. The cycle path is also paved throughout.
