The Matterhörndl is a small but impressive rock in the Vienna Woods that is perfect for a short rest. It is a little hidden away from the main path and easy to miss, but it is worth the visit. With a small opening through and the opportunity to climb around a bit, it is a mystical place for photographers, children and nature lovers. I visited this mountain as part of my Dwarf Mountain Tours series. My goal is to climb every mountain in the Vienna Woods. After a strenuous climb, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking view at the summit of Anninger. From the Wilhelmswarte, you can enjoy an impressive 360-degree view of the region. However, the trail markings to and from the lookout tower are not ideal. Visiting the tower is free and definitely worth it! I visited this mountain as part of my Dwarf Mountain Tours series (ZBT#8). 03/10/2023 - Super 360° view, a little windy at the top, be sure to take binoculars with you in your hiking backpack 😎 A beautiful observation tower on the summit of the Anninger with a height of 675m. Very easy to get to with a beautiful view. You should definitely see it when you hike up the Anninger mountain.

The hussar temple in the Vienna Woods in Lower Austria dates back to 1813. This scenic hike leads from Mödling through the forest up to the temple, from where you can enjoy magnificent views over Vienna. The hike also takes you past the Black Tower and Liechtenstein Castle.
