Addendum: In 1884, Prince Ypsilanti (a descendant of a Greek freedom fighter) inherited the palace. Ypsilanti was married to the daughter of the banker Baron von Sina (see Sina-Warte on the Lindkogl and Sinagasse in Vienna's 22nd district). The Ypsilanti family remained the owners until the end of the 20th century.

The elaborately restored moated castle, with its moat, bridge, and idyllic courtyard, enchants visitors and transports them to another world. Although the castle is privately owned, a detour here is definitely worth it, as the large gate was open and the courtyard was also freely accessible.

Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle is a baroque building that was built between 1733 and 1760 and originally served as a training center for secular priests. Today it is privately owned, while the associated church "Parish and Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary" belongs to the Roman Catholic Church. The castle complex blends harmoniously into the surrounding hilly landscape and offers beautiful views over the Tullnerfeld. The Castle Museum - Baroque Museum Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle, offers an impressive collection of works of art and artifacts from the Baroque period. The castle now houses this museum, which gives visitors the opportunity to delve deeply into the art and culture of the Baroque era.

Heiligenkreuz Castle Story: The creation goes back to the discovery of the statue of the Virgin Mary, which can be seen on the high altar of the pilgrimage church. The then lord of the castle, Jakob Freiherr von Tepsern, had a chapel built for this figure in 1733, which he had Paul Troger magnificently frescoed with a depiction of “Maria Himmelfahrt”. The influx of pilgrims that then began caused the lord of the castle to move his residence from Gutenbrunn to the mountain. He appointed Johann Ohmeyer, a student of Hildebrandt, as master builder. He designed the elongated castle wing including 2 towers on the north side. After Tepsern's death, the rule of Gutenbrunn passed to the auxiliary bishop Franz Anton Marxer. He was Maria Theresa's confessor and a great benefactor of orphaned children. Among other things, he built the orphanage for girls on Rennweg in Vienna. Franz Anton Maulbertsch was a very artistic and building-loving person and, what may sound astonishing today, he played the lottery and once won 35,000 and again 60,000 gold guilders. With the help of this money he set out to develop Heiligenkreuz into what it is today. He brought well-known artists to Heiligenkreuz, such as Franz von Hohenberg-Hetzendorf, who designed the high altar, and Franz Anton Maulbertsch, the painter of the pilgrimage church. The Moosbrugger brothers stuccoed the staircase in the castle. Franz Anton Marxer completed the building into a square in 1760. An alumnus was built on the west side, which lasted until 1806. When he finished construction, he donated the manor to the Diocese of Passau as a summer residence. In 1785, Emperor Joseph, Maria Theresa's son, created the diocese of St. Pölten and at the same time serfdom was abolished with the robot replacement protocol for the manorial rule. The diocese was not interested in ruling due to the establishment of the former Augustinian monastery in St. Pölten without serfdom, so a public auction took place. In 20 years, 13 different owners were recorded, the last owner was Baron Reichenbach, a well-known natural scientist and technician, who lost his fortune in various experiments, so the property was bought by the Figdor family in 1858 and has remained in their possession to this day.

The castle has its origins in the 17th century. After numerous changes of ownership, the President of the Anglobank Guido Elbogen (1845–1918), son of the Jungbunzlau Rabbi Isak Elbogen (?–1883), acquired the castle in 1881. In 1939 the castle was foreclosed on and bought by a German merchant named Alfred Laumayer. Today, Schloss Thalheim is a luxury hotel with a restaurant in the palace garden.

Neulengbach Castle Neulengbach Castle was a hilltop castle on a free-standing mountain cone around 80 m high. It was converted into a palace in the 16th and 17th centuries. History: Neulengbach Castle was founded together with the market by the High Barons of Lengenbach around 1189. The castle became the center of the local rule of the Lengenbachers. After the Lengenbachers died out in 1236, it came into the possession of the Babenbergs. In the late Middle Ages, Neulengbach Castle was the seat of the princely caretakers and was often mortgaged. In 1565, Rudolf Khuen von Belasy received the rule of Neulengbach. Under the Barons of Khuen, the castle was expanded or extended into an unadorned late Renaissance palace in the third third of the 16th century and the first half of the 17th century. Neulengbach Castle Founded and seat of the High Freemen of Lengenbach from 1191. The Lords of Lengenbach were among the most powerful noble families in Austria. They owned 20 castles and their coat of arms featured the colors blue and yellow, which are now the colors of Lower Austria. Generously expanded into a residential palace under Count Khuen at the beginning of the 17th century, the castle-palace complex is now a three-story square building with a double defensive ring with 8 round towers, which was never taken by enemies. The castle is now privately owned. Tex / Source: Neulengbach city map

Privately owned and can therefore only be viewed from the outside. A good view of the main building is behind the church. Story: Rappoltenkirchen was first mentioned in a document in 1210. It was probably given to the Freie von Lengenbach in 1186 by the last Styrian duke, Otakar IV. These passed it on to vassals. In 1355 it was owned by the Dobra taverns. In 1358, Duke Rudolf IV renewed the office of chief huntsman in Austria and combined it with the fiefdom of Rappoltenkirchen. The first owner was Ritter Friedrich von Kreisbach. From 1428 to 1468 the knights of Sepecken were feudal owners. After that, the lords of the castle changed relatively frequently. In 1590 the castle was largely destroyed by a severe earthquake. In the time that followed, the previous building of today's palace was probably built. From 1623 the rule belonged to the barons of Questenberg. In 1710 Rappoltenkirchen came into the possession of Johann Ferdinand Imperial Count von Kuefstein. In 1814 it came to Georg Simon Freiherr von Sina via Prince Franz Josef von Dietrichstein. His son Georg had the current castle built from 1870 to 1874. In 1891, Rappoltenkirchen became the joint property of Hereditary Princess Chariclee zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst, Iphigenie Imperial Countess zu Pappenheim, Princes Emanuel and Theodor Ypsilanti, Princess Irene Maurocordato and Anastasia Countess Wimpffen. The Princes Ypsilanti owned the castle until 1990. During the Second World War it was expropriated and used by the Gestapo as an archive. Since it had been devastated in 1945, the external damage was provisionally repaired in the post-war period, but the interior continued to suffer, as a lack of care caused entire ceilings to collapse, rooms burned out and everything usable was stolen or sold. Shortly before it was sold to Mrs. Eva Buschmann, it was placed under monument protection. She owned the castle until 1996. Since then it has been owned by Mr. KR Erich Fach. He left the lock

The original Renaissance chateau was redesigned in a neoclassical style by the architect Theophil Hansen. Is not accessible as it is privately owned, the owner is Mr. KR Erich Fach. He had the castle renovated.

The Totzenbacher, a knightly family that named itself after its residence in Totzenbach, has been documented since 1147. From 1822/1823 Totzenbach Castle belonged to the princely family of Liechtenstein zu Neulengbach, who, however, had hardly any use for the complex. In 1971, the then municipality of Totzenbach acquired the dilapidated castle from the then owner. Its condition was so desolate that the idea of laying it down completely was considered. In 1974, however, a new lord of the castle was found in the antiques dealer Josef Figl, who had the dilapidated complex rebuilt by 1979. In 2002, the Ruschitzka family acquired Totzenbach Castle, but sold it to the Berger family a year later. This is still the owner today. She uses it as her residence and rents out some of the rooms for private events. The moated castle, which fell into ruin in the 1970s, was rebuilt in 1974.
