Every year on August 15, the Church celebrates an event that, in the (Catholic) liturgical calendar, even holds the rank of a solemnity: the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, popularly known as the "Assumption of Mary." The prayer for this special occasion in the missal reads as follows: + "Almighty and eternal God, you preserved the Blessed Virgin Mary, who bore Christ for us, from all sin and raised her body and soul to the glory of heaven. Grant that we may look to this sign of hope and consolation and remain on the path that leads to your glory."

The Cathedral of Maria Saal is an impressive Gothic cathedral whose beginnings date back to the early Middle Ages.

The Mariae Himmelfahrt pilgrimage church is a magnificent Gothic building in Maria Saal. Surrounded by well-fortified walls and towers, it stands on a hill in the customs field. The predecessor church was first mentioned in a document in 860 and was replaced by a Romanesque hall church in the 13th century. In the 15th century it was rebuilt in the late Gothic style. Inside you can admire many art treasures from all eras.
