The bike tour along the shores of Lake Mondsee is one of the most scenic routes in the Salzkammergut. Starting on the northern shore of the lake, the trail leads past quiet coves and reed-lined shorelines, offering almost continuous, magnificent views of the crystal-clear waters and the imposing Drachenwand mountain in the background. Especially in the morning or late afternoon, the light over the lake is magical – perfect for a short rest. Cycling the route counterclockwise offers the best views of the lake and mountains, especially at sunset. Bring your swimsuit; some of the most beautiful access points to the lake are hidden but easily accessible by bike.

The town of Mondsee alone is worth a trip to and around Mondsee.

One of the many lakes in the Salzkammergut. Cycling along the bank would be nice if there wasn't so much traffic.

Wolfgangsee, also known as Abersee, is an alpine lake in Austria. Most of the lake is in the northeast of the state of Salzburg, while a small part belongs to Upper Austria. With an area of 13 km², it is one of the largest and most well-known lakes in the Salzkammergut Ad1 region. The towns of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang share the turquoise-blue Lake Wolfgang. The Schafberg, the Zwölferhorn and the Postalm impressively frame the lake. The region is a popular holiday destination and offers numerous activities such as hiking, cycling, water sports in summer and cross-country skiing, skiing and Advent romance in winter.
