Wolfgangsee, also known as Abersee, is an alpine lake in Austria. Most of the lake is in the northeast of the state of Salzburg, while a small part belongs to Upper Austria. With an area of 13 km², it is one of the largest and most well-known lakes in the Salzkammergut Ad1 region. The towns of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang share the turquoise-blue Lake Wolfgang. The Schafberg, the Zwölferhorn and the Postalm impressively frame the lake. The region is a popular holiday destination and offers numerous activities such as hiking, cycling, water sports in summer and cross-country skiing, skiing and Advent romance in winter.

The Oberburgau is located 30 kilometers east of the city of Salzburg. It is around 8 kilometers south-east of the town center of the Mondsee market on the southern shore of the Mondsee (481 m above sea level) on the narrow strip of shore at the northern foot of the Schafberg in the Salzkammergut mountains. A few meters from the Mondsee shoreline is the Kreuzstein (Mondsee), which no longer belongs to Oberburgau, but like the entire Mondsee to the market town of the same name and thus to the state of Upper Austria. Opposite rise the Mondsee Flyschberge with the Hochplett.

The Wolfgangsee railway embankment cycle path is a popular cycle path in Strobl, Salzburg area. There are many different cycle tours that can be done on this cycle path, such as the moderately difficult tour “Wolfgangsee railway embankment cycle path – view of St. Wolfgang round from Wengl”, which is 37.5 km long and takes about 2 hours and 35 minutes
