Due to a shortage of skilled workers, the Zistelalm is unfortunately only open for events (as of July 2024). A cozy, spontaneous stop at an altitude of 1000 m is therefore no longer possible. That's a shame, because the beautiful place with a view of the mountains offers a holiday feeling in between.

The Stöhrhaus was the second mountain house built by the Berchtesgaden Alpine Club after the Kärlingerhaus. It was built between 1898 and 1901.[1] During the Second World War, the air guard occupied the house and left it in a catastrophic state after the end of the war.[2] In 1964, the Stöhrhaus was connected to the Bischofswiesen power grid. The reason for this was NATO's plan to set up a radar surveillance system in the area of the Berchtesgaden Hochthron. From May 1962, the German Army, together with the US Army, laid a medium-voltage cable from the newly built switchgear in Winkl to the Untersberg, to which the Stöhrhaus was also connected. The project was later discontinued, but the cable remained.[3] Between 1978 and 1979, a 1.2 km long material cable car was built from Stöhrweg to the house.[2], which was dismantled in 2023, since then all transports have been carried out by 🚁 [Source: bgl wiki]

Beautiful, small hut with 30 beds and delicious food. The dumpling variations are especially delicious! The sunrise and sunset are fantastic

The Zistelalm is a hamlet or mountain inn on the way to the Gaisberg summit. The restaurant is currently only open for events, but that is set to change in summer 2024. You can find more information at https://www.zistelalm.at/.

That's right, nice employees and owners. The food was also great, super tasty. And the view is great too. You can't get more than that in a hut, which is why the Zeppezauerhaus Hut is one of our favorite huts!

Good pub with a fantastic terrace and a great view while eating. Prices are completely acceptable for a Bergalm and not overpriced.

In the Berchtesgaden Alps on the Untersberg, below the Berchtesgaden Hochthron (1972 m), lies the Stöhrhaus at an altitude of 1894 meters. It is a refuge of the German Alpine Association and belongs to the DAV Berchtesgaden section and was renovated and modernized in 2018/19. Experienced climbing enthusiasts will get their money's worth on the Untersberg south and east faces. There are countless routes "on the doorstep", most of which are of a higher level of difficulty. One particular attraction is the Berchtesgaden Hochthron via ferrata.

The Zeppezauerhaus is located at an altitude of 1663 m above sea level. A. just below the Geiereck on the north side of the Untersberg. The hut is beautifully situated and invites you to take a break before the ascent or descent.

Accommodation hut of the Austrian Alpine Association The Zeppezauer Haus is located at an altitude of 1,663 m on the north side of the Untersberg, just a few minutes' walk from the Untersbergbahn mountain station. It is on the Austrian side of the Untersberg, just a few meters from the national border. There are a total of 53 sleeping places available: 14 beds and 39 dormitories.
