The Lünersee was once a natural mountain lake. The construction of a dam in 1959 transformed it into a reservoir with a capacity of 78.3 million m3. When full, the lake is 139 m deep. The circular trail around the lake is largely family-friendly and easy to walk.

Extremely well-organized hut operation, which, however, lacks the special charm of an alpine hut. After the rebuild everything was in tip top order and the hut operators were very charismatic.

Lindauer Hütte, HOSPITALITY SINCE 1899 1898: Hooray, a home in the Gauerthale 1899: Planning & construction 1899: Official purchase for 5 guilders 1899: The first innkeeper 1900: Extension, paths & water 1909: Construction of the (old) dormitory 2008: The historic main building gets an additional floor. 2016: In record time, the old dormitories are rebuilt and the staff house is renovated while the facility is still in operation.
