The hike from Lac de Moiry to Col de Torrent is great and the descent to Evolène is largely rideable. Top tip!

When planning your trip, always keep the post buses in mind. You can easily travel to the reservoir (from Zinal) or from La Sage to Arolla, for example, by post bus. As always, take a break on the pass and take your time. When there are clouds, there are always windows where they break away and reveal a wonderful view.

In this valley it is certainly difficult to find a bad view, however, from this location you will have an excellent view of the Borgne de Ferpècle, as well as the many imposing mountains that surround this valley.

A beautiful natural lake, in a distinctly alpine location. From this small, but perfectly formed lake, you can enjoy an excellent view of the Dent Blanche, framed perfectly in this small hollow where the lake is located. On a beautiful day, the lake acts like a mirror, providing a perfect reflection of this mighty pyramid-shaped mountain.

A high-quality hike on multi-use trails above the town of Evolène. By following this path, you will follow the banks of Lac des Auttanes, in a remarkable alpine environment. This is a shared-use trail, so be sure to watch out for hikers and other trail users.

Breathtakingly beautiful mountain biking. A glorious descent from the hamlet of Béplan through alpine pastures, on a high-quality, versatile single track. As you quickly descend the mountain slope, you will be accompanied by the sound of cow bells and you will be able to admire the glaciers and peaks that surround the Arolla region. This is a shared trail, so be sure to watch for hikers, as well as the cows that call this area home.

A large, traditional mountain hut above the legendary town of Arolla. This hideaway offers food, drinks and accommodation, all in a superb location. From the refuge you can have incredible views of the mountains and valley around Arolla, and in good weather you can see the mighty Dent Blanche, as well as the distant Weisshorn, among many others. The drive to the refuge is indicative of its alpine environment, with technical driving on rocky alpine trails, which may be a challenge for some. Make sure you ride within your limits and be ready for the challenge, it's a pretty engaging environment up there. If you wish to stay at the refuge, it is recommended to book in advance, as these refuges can get very busy during peak season.

A small hamlet, testifying to the agricultural heritage of the region. From this location you will have stunning views of the region's impressive mountains, such as the Dent Blanche and the Dent d'Hérens, two of the largest peaks in the region. Access to this location is via well-maintained multi-use trails, with a long and engaging climb, and a range of descents, from technical to jeep trails. Watch out for cows on your way down!
