In May 2019, the water buffalo were resettled in the Bottwar meadows as part of the project for home, people, and nature. Their stable and pasture are located on the road between Großbottwar and Kleinbottwar.

Apart from a good cycle path, only a few station buildings remain from the old Bottwarbahn, such as Hof and Lembach stations. An information board provides some background information about the station and the Bottwarbahn as a whole.

Water buffalo in the Bottwar Valley – a project for home, people, and nature: The project for the landscape-ecological optimization of the floodplain between Großbottwar and Kleinbottwar aims to sustainably develop the floodplain area and promote the coexistence of diverse wetland habitats. The buffalo are not always visible, as meadows are also grazed behind the Bottwar, which are not visible.

The cycle path was built on the railway embankment of the former Bottwartalbahn. You can still see old train stations and some railway signals along the route. Due to the slight gradient and the good surface, it is easy to cycle.

Etzlenswenden belongs to Beilstein and is located in the Schmidbach valley at an altitude of around 385 m on a steep south-facing slope. Etzlenswenden probably originated as a Franconian forest clearing settlement. The "Kelterle" with bell tower, renovated in 1981, indicates the importance of winegrowing in Etzlenswenden. Etzlenswenden was a purely agricultural street village for centuries, where cattle breeding used to predominate. The "Kelterle" is a sight to behold.

Probably closed due to flood damage at the moment, diversion through the industrial area is signposted (as of 08.06.24)
