Position The Portlahorn is part of the Damülser Berge group and is a striking, distinct, powerful peak with three ridges. The shortest route leads from the Portlalpe via the Portlafürkle in the direction of the Sünser Joch. The mountain can be climbed from the south via the Portlakopf or from the north via the Sünser Joch. Summer The route over the Portlaalpe (near Furkajoch) to the mountain summit can be completed in about an hour (300 meters in altitude). Coming from Damüls over the Sieben Hügel, the Sünserjoch on the Portlahorn, you can choose to return via the Alpe Oberdamüls (1667 m). The Fritzensee is beautifully located and several benches invite you to linger.

The Freiburger Hütte is placed like an eagle's nest ... on one side it goes steeply downhill into the valley and on the other side over the Formarinsee back to Lech. Great view of the lake (including gentian). You have to try the pot pancakes ... delicious.
