You don't have to go to Italy or another southern country to go hiking by the sea. The hiking trail from Achenkirch to Gaisalm and further to Pertisau offers exactly this idyll - a rocky and narrow path right by the Achensee that looks like a sea. The "Mariensteig" has been awarded the "Tyrolean Mountain Trail with distinction" award because of its special scenic beauty, views and flora. This path is very narrow and very exposed in places. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential!

Nice tour! We went from Pertisau to Scholastika. From the Gaisalm onwards it gets a bit more challenging!
