From the dam, you have an impressive view over the elongated, fjord-like reservoir, which is idyllically nestled between wooded slopes. The view is particularly beautiful on clear days, when the surrounding mountain landscape is reflected in the water. The dam itself is freely accessible and a good vantage point, as you can enjoy a clear view of the reservoir from here.

The Klemm is currently (May 2025) accessible, but not completely, as one bridge is closed.

The road is currently closed (July 8th - September 6th, 2024). A diversion will be set up. This leads from the Wiestal Landesstraße junction / Strubklamm Straße junction via Ebenau to Faistenau with the option of taking the Strubklammstraße.

The beautiful reservoir in Wiestal is dammed by this 66m long and 28m high dam wall from 1909! An impressive structure in a picturesque valley! ❤️

The area around the Wiestalstausee is very scenic. I cannot recommend the circumnavigation of the lake, as there are no paths here. You have to cross the main road more often and sometimes walk directly on the road (at bridges, etc.)
