From the dam, you have an impressive view over the elongated, fjord-like reservoir, which is idyllically nestled between wooded slopes. The view is particularly beautiful on clear days, when the surrounding mountain landscape is reflected in the water. The area around the Wiestalstausee is very scenic. I cannot recommend the circumnavigation of the lake, as there are no paths here. You have to cross the main road more often and sometimes walk directly on the road (at bridges, etc.)

The Wiestalklamm, also called Almbachklamm, is the 1.6 kilometer long narrow valley of the Almbach between the Wiestal reservoir and the Wiestal compensation basin. It is considered a section of particular scenic beauty and is one of the few gorges in the dolomite rock of the Alps. The valley section is s-shaped and is partly bordered by almost vertical rock walls. Primarily for aesthetic reasons, the gorge has been under protection as a natural monument 00126 Wiestal gorge with an area of 12.6 hectares since 1974.
