The Dobratsch or Villacher Alpe (Slovene: Dobrač or Beljaščica) is a 2,166 m above sea level mountain range in Carinthia. It forms the eastern foothills of the Gailtal Alps and is located immediately west of the city of Villach. The Dobratsch area has been protected as a nature park since 2002. As a model region for sustainable development, it has relied from the outset on a four-pillar model with the themes of protection, education, recreation, and regional development. At the end of 2021, research was added as a fifth pillar for the further development into Nature Park Z. The Dobratsch Nature Park covers an area of approximately 8,200 hectares.

It's still worth it even when the mountain pasture is closed. You can drive up to here and then start one of the many tours. You'll need to bring a snack with you.
