Recommended in combination with the small Sonnstein, but not on its own, as the view is only possible from the very front at the edge and the view from the small Sonnstein is much nicer and there is more to see from there.

An incredibly beautiful stretch of trail with stunning views and lovely places to rest and linger. Here you can stroll and marvel. On hot summer days, there are even a few swimming spots!

To avoid the boring path along the main road (Traunkirchen-Ebensee), we recommend the old mountain path. This leads from the kl. Sonnstein (h 520m) to the center of Traunkirchen.

The Seethalerhütte on the Dachstein is located at 2,740 m, making it the highest mountain hut in Upper Austria. Surrounded by the eternal ice of the Dachstein glacier, the hut is located in a breathtaking setting and offers a wonderful view of the mountains all the way to the Großglockner. Delicious food, friendly service, great panoramic windows in the dining room and a beautiful sun terrace with a mountain panorama. What more could you want?? Oh, and you can also stay overnight 😉.
