The Spatschlucht was formed around 1800, when the above-ground mining of heavy spar, also known as barite, began. The white spar powder was used as an additive in the manufacture of paint and paper. All in all, barite was successfully mined in the area for almost 140 years until 1939.

Beautiful works in the park

Not far from the road is this small gorge, which is definitely worth a visit. The two entrances are a bit impassable. Still a nice highlight and a great photo spot.

Extensive exotic forest with great trees, but unfortunately the "paths" are paved ...

Forest stands that have been planted since 1872 with striking, sometimes huge, foreign species of deciduous and coniferous trees can be viewed on easily accessible, marked forest paths. Today around 140 different tree species can be admired. It is noteworthy that forest stands and not individual trees were planted.
