Beautiful old town with wonderful gabled houses, nice cafes, restaurants and bars.

The Hanseatic city of Wismar (Low German: Wismer) is located on the Baltic Sea coast in the Nordwestmecklenburg district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, at the southern end of the Bay of Wismar, protected by the island of Poel. It is the sixth-largest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the largest of the state's 18 medium-sized towns. The historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2002.

Great old town with very beautiful houses

With its size of around 10,000 m², the Wismar market square is one of the largest in Germany. It is the largest market square in northern Germany. It was not created by rebuilding a market town, but by planning on the drawing board. This fact is clearly visible on a city map; as an almost square square there are access roads in all directions. There are many historical buildings around the market square. For example, on the north side there is the impressive Wismar town hall, the old Swedish commandant's office, the Old Swede or the Reuterhaus. On the market square in Wismar stands the famous waterworks, a magnificent, magnificent building that in earlier times served to supply water to the citizens of Wismar.
