A very beautiful, wonderful natural spectacle

This beautiful natural wonder is NOT part of the Franconian Way. For me, it was the highlight of the tour!

Until 1789, Ellingen was the residence of the Land Commander of the Franconian Bailiwick of the Teutonic Order. The present palace complex, built from 1708 to around 1760, was preceded by several medieval buildings and a Renaissance structure. The current main building was constructed between 1717 and 1721 by the architect Franz Keller, based on plans by Wilhelm Heinrich Behringer under the direction of Karl Heinrich von Hornstein.

There is an inner and an outer Baroque circular route.

The flyer is available free of charge at the tourist information office between the palace and the town hall. A smartphone/GPS is helpful, as the Baroque Trail isn't specifically marked in the town itself. You have to navigate using the flyer and the buildings themselves. Small information signs are attached to the buildings. In some cases, larger information panels are also located directly on the buildings.

The tourist information office is located directly next to the town hall, towards the castle. There you can find, among other things, a map for the Ellingen Baroque Trail.
