The Wendelsteinkircherl is a hundred meters below the summit, not far from the mountain station of the Wendelsteinbahn. She belongs to the Catholic. Brannenburg parish in the district of Rosenheim. Consecrated on August 20, 1890, it is dedicated to the Patrona Bavariae. This neo-Gothic building is often mistakenly referred to as the "Wendelstein Chapel", which is not only wrong in the canonical sense, but also misleading, because in addition to the Wendelstein Church, there is actually a much older (1718) wooden Wendelstein Chapel. The Wendelstein Church was consecrated in 1890 according to the regulations of the pontifical and is therefore Germany's highest church. On August 20, 1890, the Archbishop of Munich Antonius von Thoma consecrated the Wendelstein Church to Mary, the Mother of God, the Patrona Bavariae.
