It's just a beautiful place. Whether you climbed up on foot, with the cable car or whether you pass the Kircherl on the descent from the summit: it is always a beautiful view and something different every time. It's also nice to sit on one of the benches behind the church and enjoy the place and the view in peace and quiet with some time.

The name of the lake was first recorded in the form Tegarinseo in 796, when the princely brothers Oatkar and Adalbert founded a monastery on the tegarin seo, which is Old High German and means large lake. A Celtic root word meaning lord or prince is possible, but also the origin of Lehm-Tiegel, which is assumed for neighboring place names such as Tegernbach or Tegerndorf.
