Former castle of the Pürckinger noble family. In 1687 he was appointed Hofmark through the marriage of Electoral Court Chamber Councilor Johann von Huefnagl. The castle was built between 1688 - 1690. Over the next few centuries the owners changed several times.

The quarry lake was created in 1938–39 through gravel mining. It is located in the Untere Amper landscape protection area and in the immediate vicinity of the Amper and the federal highway 8.
