The photos that can still be seen of the Steinbach dam, which show a large, shimmering blue water surface, are older. After the heavy rain catastrophe of July 2021, due to the amount of water that caused the dam to temporarily break, the dam ran empty. As far as I know, it has not yet been decided whether the dam will ever be closed again and a lake will be dammed.

The picturesque Olefsee, a drinking water dam with a capacity of 20 million cbm, lies in the midst of beautiful forests. A circular route of 13.5 km runs around the Olefsee, which offers hikers or cyclists an inexhaustible source of relaxation. It is a great pleasure to walk over the wooden planks through the unique wetlands near Dahlem. Information signs along the way explain the marshy flora and provide interesting information. In any case, please always stay on the wrong track, otherwise there is a risk of forever sinking into the moor!
