The Planet Trail ends here at the old weir, and the Universe panel provides a final overview. A beautiful tour.

An old medieval weir, extensively renovated in 1999 and restored to its current form. The so-called Bobritz Dam supplies water to the mill race, which was used to feed the mills at the time, and also drains floodwater into the Mulde River. It's a very idyllic spot. From here, however, you can't go any further; you have to walk north again. It's definitely worth the detour!

Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system and the one closest to the sun. On the Eilenburg Planetary Trail, you'll encounter it after just a few steps. Its station vividly demonstrates how tiny it is compared to the sun—a rocky planet with a surface full of craters reminiscent of our moon. Due to its proximity to the sun, Mercury experiences extreme temperature fluctuations: During the day, it can reach temperatures of up to 430°C, while at night, it can reach a frigid -180°C. The information panel at the station explains that Mercury has a very thin atmosphere, which does not protect it from the strong solar winds.

In 1968, the nave received a new roof. Gutters and lightning protection were also replaced, and a new cross was attached to the roof. Renovation of the nave began in 1971, during which a new altar was built and fitted with a new cross. This was followed in the spring of 1972 by the reinstallation of the organ and the replastering of the exterior of the nave. The ceremonial rededication of the technically overhauled organ took place in August 1992. In September 1998, the church tower was renovated, and the crowning of the tower was completed on January 23, 1999.
