"The basalt cinder volcano Krufter Ofen is located south of Lake Laach. Its steep eastern flank drops to an oval, kettle-like depression. This depression drains into the Neuwied Basin through the so-called Halsgraben. On the east side of this depression, which is also called a "depression" in geomorphological terms, are the cinder volcanoes Heidekopf and Roter Berg. Beautiful, well-kept hiking trails around the Malberg. Goats are currently grazing there to keep the impassable parts free.
