The town hall with its stepped gables is the town's landmark. It was built around 1520. Changing exhibitions are held in the historic building. It's definitely worth a visit!

Heidenreichstein Castle is partially open to the public. It has been privately owned by the Kinsky family since 1961 and is still inhabited. Guided tours are offered, during which you can also look at some of the rooms inside the castle. The castle, like the whole town, owes its name to one of the first burgraves, who was called Heidenreich. The moated castle, the oldest part of which dates back to the second half of the 12th century, is considered a landmark of the town of 3,800 inhabitants.

Unfortunately, we were in a hurry, but this looks like a great place to take a rest and dip in the water. Thaya seems rather wide at this location, so it's probably a better swimming place than the one next to the old bathhouse a few km further north. Shuttle can take up to six bikes in one pass and it's up to you to pull it across the river.
