A magnificent view of the Hegau and a wonderfully rustic gravel path - it couldn't be better!

The viewing platform can be reached via 225 steps. Above the treetops, there is a unique panoramic view from the Black Forest to the Alps. The Hagenhütte is about a 10-minute walk below the Hagenturm. This hut is open to everyone all year round, every weekend on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (current opening times: http://kos-altkadetten.ch/) Drinks, a small snack and delicious cakes can be bought from the hut warden. The range varies depending on the hut warden.

The Neuhewen is the highest volcanic cone in the Hegau (from the Celtic "hewen" = cone). Preserved: keep, remains of walls. Built in the middle of the 13th century for the Lords of Engen (Hewen). Mentioned in 1303-1308. Destroyed by Bavarian troops in 1639 during the Thirty Years' War. Repair work carried out in 1952 and 1962. Surrounded by a fence and not accessible. Since 2005, the ruin has been secured against access with barricades and razor wire.

The ascent to the Buchberg summit is a bit strenuous but definitely worth it. Fantastic vision, in clear weather up to the Alps.

There are 2 viewpoints here. From one of them you have a beautiful view towards the Alps and at the summit cross you can see the villages down.

A detour is very worthwhile, as you have a very great view of the surrounding area.

The ruins are still closed. However, I can highly recommend the paths up and down. They are well maintained, wide enough and the nettles don't bother you at all. The south side with the large, moss-covered rocks is very exciting.
