Uwe attracts everyone's attention on the Falkenstein shore. The ship capsized in December 1975 in thick fog. Today, at low tide, Uwe's foredeck protrudes from the water. Another eye-catcher is the Finnish shipwreck Polstjernan, which caught fire in the 1920s on the way to England.

Since 1900, the Wittenbergen lighthouse, together with the Tinsdal lighthouse, has formed the Wittenbergen–Tinsdal lighthouse line for ships traveling downstream of the Elbe in the Rissen district of Hamburg. The construction of the steel lattice towers began in 1899, at the same time as the Billerbek lighthouse, which, together with the Tinsdal lighthouse, formed the Billerbek – Tinsdal lighthouse until 1960. Due to a change in the fairway of the Lower Elbe, the 30 meter high and four ton heavy lower light was moved nine meters to the south in September 1905.

The new red and white striped lighthouse, which has been in operation since 2020, is 32 m high and stands east of the Blankenese ferry pier in the Elbe. At its base there is a viewing platform accessible from land. After the new guiding light line went into operation, the old lighthouse was demolished at the end of 2020 to avoid dangerous confusion. The lighthouse is remotely controlled by the Seemannshöft nautical center.
