The water from the lake is used to wash the stones in the nearby Hönnetal limestone works. The washed-out sediments are washed back into the lake and settle there. The lake in the quarry owes its name to the intense color of the water: The Blue Lagoon. It is 80 meters deep and has a water temperature of 8 degrees.

Easy parking, nice interesting path with a good view of the limestone quarry. The observation tower is also worthwhile. Here you can see more than 40 km in good visibility. A board on the strand helps for orientation.

The witch pond is small with lots of water lilies. There are very beautiful hiking trails through gorges, but also open paths with a view! There is seating along the hiking trail and tree sculptures to admire. When you go back over the bridge, besides fish, you can also see turtles basking in the sun.

An idyllic place, a small circular route with works of art and with luck you can see the turtles, which someone has probably implemented here.

The Hexenteich is located in a forest above Menden. During the witch hunt in the Middle Ages, innocent women and men who were allegedly convicted of witchcraft were drowned there. Around the Witches' Pond there are tree sculptures that look similar to torture posts. The barbecue hut at the Hexenteich can be rented. It is also very good to hike there.

Despite the fact that it is a quarry, I find it very beautiful there, especially the color of the water.

The Blue Lagoon in the Lhoist limestone quarry is a lake that is mainly fed by groundwater and whose water is so incredibly colored by the limestone. The lake is said to be about as deep as the area around the lake is high above its water level. Limestone was originally mined in the lake until the groundwater created the lake because the water was no longer pumped out. Of course, entering the quarry is prohibited, bathing etc in the lake is of course also prohibited.

Nice little pond. You can grill your own food at the public barbecue area. If the parking lot at the pond is full, you can also park at the nearby tennis court or the mini golf course.
