The tower is cordoned off and inaccessible. The last renovation was in 1984. I assume that after more than 40 years, it's time for a thorough inspection of the tower and its 125 steps leading to the viewing platform.

The panoramic view over the Rhine plain to the Vosges Mountains is absolutely worth seeing.

In the middle of the 19th century, the Black Forest Association of Württemberg and Baden had built a simple shelter with a fireplace on this site. It burned down in 1909 and a massive lookout tower with accommodation was built in 1910. The lookout tower of the Black Forest Association, also known as the Teufelsmühle, is made of red sandstone and was originally 10 meters high. In 1952 it was increased to 16.20 meters. From the Teufelsmühle you have a wonderful view of the Murg Valley. From the tower you can also see large parts of the surrounding Black Forest.

The amber is 693.5 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the northern Black Forest in the area of the city of Gaggenau, district Rotenfels, and the city of Bad Herrenalb, district Bernbach. It is part of the ridge that delimits the front Murgtal on its east side.
