The present ruins of the summit castle are located on the summit of the 644 m high Hohenkrähen ("Krayen"), a mountain of volcanic origin north of Singen in the Hegau, between the villages of Duchtlingen, Schlatt unter Krähen and Mühlhausen in the Duchtlingen district.

The Neuhewen is the highest volcanic cone in the Hegau (from the Celtic "hewen" = cone). Preserved: keep, remains of walls. Built in the middle of the 13th century for the Lords of Engen (Hewen). Mentioned in 1303-1308. Destroyed by Bavarian troops in 1639 during the Thirty Years' War. Repair work carried out in 1952 and 1962. Surrounded by a fence and not accessible. Mainau Castle Baroque jewel in the middle of the island The architectural centerpiece is Mainau Castle, the Teutonic Order castle. It was built between 1739 and 1746 according to the plans of Johann Caspar Bagnato and he also supervised the construction. Despite limited financial resources, an architecturally extremely balanced and symmetrical palace complex was created that exudes great harmony. The two side wings open in a horseshoe shape towards the mainland, while the wide side faces Lake Constance. The building consists of a base on which two floors rise. The coats of arms of the Grand Master Clemens August of Bavaria, the Land Commander Philipp von Froberg and the Mainau Commander Friedrich von Baden can be seen particularly magnificently on the west gable. The east gable facing the lake bears the coat of arms of the Teutonic Order. The upper floors can be reached via simple staircases in the side wings. The heart of the castle is the former audience hall, the so-called “White Hall” decorated in white and gold, which only received its current appearance in 1883. It is only open to the public during concerts or special events. The lower area of the castle is open to visitors. Exhibitions regularly take place here in the historic coat of arms hall. Bodman Castle is located in Bodman, a part of the double municipality of Bodman-Ludwigshafen in the district of Konstanz. In 1757 the first castle was built in Bodman. The current castle was built in 1832 by Johann Baptist Wehrle and was given its current appearance in 1909 with additions. The Bodman Castle in Weinbrenner style is a simple structure. It is privately owned and is still inhabited by Wilderich Graf von und zu Bodman, the son of Johann Nikolaus Freiherr von und zu Bodman. Only the castle park, an extensive English park that dates back to the 18th century, is open to visitors.

Since 2005, the ruin has been secured against access with barricades and razor wire.
