The present ruins of the summit castle are located on the summit of the 644 m high Hohenkrähen ("Krayen"), a mountain of volcanic origin north of Singen in the Hegau, between the villages of Duchtlingen, Schlatt unter Krähen and Mühlhausen in the Duchtlingen district.

A truly impressive waterfall! 🌊👍 There are many different viewpoints and vantage points – absolutely breathtaking! 🙂 We had rather chilly, rainy weather in May 2023, but luckily we had excellent weatherproof clothing. 🙃 It was a fantastic experience at the start of our 2023 Rhine cycling tour! 👌

For more than 1100 years, Laufen Castle at the Rhine Falls has witnessed many social and political upheavals. Not infrequently, due to its privileged location, it was itself the focus of disputes. 858: first mention The Rhine Falls - at that time "big Lauffen" - gives the castle its name. Great photo opportunities at every corner and a super nice view

Very crisp and quite demanding ascent, with holding aids attached to the critical passages.

Quite an impressive facility. Compared to the ruins of the neighboring mountains, this complex looks spruced up, and there is also an entrance fee. Halfway up you can buy a drink or snack from the ticket kiosk.
