Schlühüwanapark is or can be used as the starting point for the hike. A little later you will pass the Schlüchtsee and can take a short break there. If the bathing restaurant is open, you can also have something to eat 🌭 or 🍻 drink before you continue hiking.

The idyllic Schlüchtsee was probably a fish pond and possibly also an ice pond for the nearby brewery in Rothaus, which was founded in 1791 by the St. Blasien monastery. The lake is located at an altitude of around 900 m in the middle of a nature reserve between Grafenhausen and Rothaus. This covers around 6 hectares and is up to five meters deep. The Schlücht river flows through the lake. A third of the lake is populated by water lilies and ducks and is closed to swimming in summer. The romantic lake, surrounded by high forest, has a shallow beach from the lawn. Even small children can splash around here under supervision. Boats are not allowed on the lake. Above the lawn there is a kiosk with a sun terrace, changing rooms and sanitary facilities. This is open daily when the weather is good. Here you will find a 24-hour drinks and snack machine. The lake and its facilities invite you to cool off and unwind - pure relaxation! The lake can be reached on foot from Grafenhausen via the promenade path in about 30 minutes and from Rothaus via the Schlühüwanapark in about 20 minutes. A beautiful reservoir is nestled in a valley. You can ride a bike out the back and continue riding, even if there is a dead end sign at the entrance. This only applies to cars. It is most beautiful in summer as it is usually cool and shady there.

The Alb Basin or Alb Dam is a reservoir in the Alb valley near St. Blasien (southern Black Forest). The gravity dam of the Alb reservoir is 28 m high. The dam between Schluchsee and the Rhine near Waldshut is part of the pumped storage network of Schluchseewerk AG.

Quite a beautiful lake with many colors

The monastery pond is a private pond and belongs to the Landgasthof Klosterweiherhof. I spent a few nice days with her on very nice hikes and on my return I enjoyed cooling off in the monastery pond.

On a hike to the mountain lake you will definitely pass by here. The wild boars as well as the red and fallow deer are happy about the feed corn from the machine.
